Profane songs should have separate platforms, enough is enough !-Akwaboah Jnr.

Ghanaian singer-songwriter Akwaboah Jnr. has fumed at the rate at rich profanity is being used in Ghanaian songs. The artist is in a strong opposition to fellow artists who abuse profanity in songs since according to him the youth are watching and listening.

In a hot interview with Accra FM which was monitored by Ghanasongs, the artist engaged in a hot debate with the host on the need to provide a separate platform for profane songs.

“In as much as you did the song in your room, it is still for public consumption. And everything you say in your song affects people’s lives. I know great musicians who have such words in their songs, but if you don’t listen to them well, you won’t notice it. So, I would be glad if we could at least go in that lane; it would be better.

“I think certain songs that have such profane words should be rated so that such songs would not be played on the radio or in music videos. But if a fan wants to listen to or watch a music video of that particular song, there should be a channel or medium where he or she can find it, rather than playing such songs to everyone, including kids,”  Akwaboah explained.

He also disclosed that a lot of children and youth listen to these songs which might influence them in the bad acts and as such, he condemns profane songs which goes public.

“If we blindly adopt the Western style and copy it without thought, we will face the consequences. We can talk about love, sex, and weed, but we should be aware of the problems that can arise afterward.

Whatever we do, we must be cautious to avoid negative effects on future generations,” he ended
